According to a Gartner survey of 2,002 CIOs reported by The Decoder, only 13 percent of companies believe their AI investments deliver real business value. This highlights a significant gap between expectations and outcomes in corporate AI adoption.
The survey also revealed that 51 percent of CIOs expect AI to increase their operating costs, indicating concerns about the financial impact of deploying AI technologies. Meanwhile, 75 percent of CEOs plan to continue increasing their technology budgets, suggesting ongoing commitment to digital transformation despite these challenges.
For Japanese markets, where technology-driven efficiency is critical amid competitive pressures, these findings underscore the need for more strategic AI implementation to translate investments into tangible business gains.
