ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), a semiconductor manufacturer based in Hefei, has officially begun trading on Shanghai’s Star Market as of July 27, following a successful initial public offering (IPO) that raised more than USD 8.5 billion, according to KrASIA.
The company sold roughly a 30% stake during the IPO, marking one of the largest tech listings on the Star Market to date. CXMT’s debut underscores China’s growing push to develop its domestic semiconductor industry amid global supply chain shifts.
For Japanese investors, CXMT’s IPO highlights increasing competition in memory chip production, a sector where Japan has long been a key player, reinforcing the importance of monitoring China’s expanding footprint in technology manufacturing.
