According to The Decoder, 406 scientists, including prominent AI researchers Geoffrey Hinton, Yoshua Bengio, and Stuart Russell, have signed an open letter demanding that companies immediately disconnect AI models from the internet. They also call for the implementation of mandatory security standards to better control AI development.
The letter further requests the establishment of an international oversight body and requires companies to report any containment failures related to AI systems. This move highlights growing concerns about the risks posed by unregulated AI technologies.
For Japanese markets, where AI adoption is accelerating in FX, crypto, and equities trading, enhanced security protocols will be crucial to managing potential systemic risks associated with AI-driven decision-making.
